14. December 2018 – DRÄXLMAIER UK attended this year's Skills Show, promoting apprenticeship opportunities for 2019
The Skills Show is the UK's largest recruitment event for school, college and university students, attracting over 70,000 people over the course of three days. The event, which took place on 15-17 November, is an opportunity for students to talk and engage with businesses about the varying career opportunities available to them after the school, college and/or university.
DRÄXLMAIER UK attended the Skills Show with the aim of promoting future apprentice opportunities within the business, as well as raising the profile of the DRÄXLMAIER brand. Many familiar faces within the automotive industry were present at the show, including Jaguar Land Rover, BMW MINI and Volkswagen , however DRÄXLMAIER were the only automotive supplier attending, which enabled the business to showcase the varying opportunities available to students within the automotive supply chain.
The DRÄXLMAIER UK stand had car interiors on display of which the DRÄXLMAIER Group is premium automotive supplier. These interiors were very popular with visitors, many of which were previously unaware that their favourite cars had DRÄXLMAIER components in them.
There were a mix of activities for students to get involved with and take part in on the stand, showcasing the types of skills needed to work for the DRÄXLMAIER Group. One of these activities included stitching a piece of leather interior trim in the shape of an elephant. Visitors also had a go at connecting wire circuit board, which was connected to a pneumatic air pump. Once the wires were aligned correctly, a stress ball would shoot 20ft in the air for someone to catch. Both of these activities showcased the two core areas the UK part of the DRÄXLMAIER Group support its customers with; exclusive interiors and customer-specific wiring harnesses.
Every interested visitor left with a DRÄXLMAIER goodie bag, however three lucky visitors also won themselves a shopping voucher by correctly guessing how many components there are in a special interior cockpit.
Over the course of the show, the DRÄXLMAIER Group promoted its 2019 UK apprentice opportunities, covering areas such as: Quality, Quality Measurement, Logistics, Health & Safety, Finance, HR and IT. The majority of these opportunities will be based in Tamworth and Solihull in the West Midlands, with DRÄXLMAIER looking to take on students 16 years of age or older.
